Clavell’s work in television and film continued long after the publication of his novels. As Executive Producer with artistic control, he oversaw the making of Shōgun as a TV mini-series in 1980 (as shown above). It became the second highest-rated television mini-series in history with an audience of over 120,000,000. Other Clavell works that have been made into feature films or mini-series include Tai-Pan (1984) and Noble House (1988). Clavell also co-produced Shōgun: The Musical (1989) for the Broadway stage.
